Cleveland has lost
its "senior statesman" for historic preservation with the death
of Bob Gaede on Wednesday, April 16. Bob dedicated his life to
architecture and historic preservation. He was a founding member and an Honorary Life
Trustee of the Cleveland Restoration Society and served as
editor of its publication, Facade, for nearly three
decades.
This Place Matters!
May is National Preservation Month
Throughout
this month people across the country will be celebrating
National Preservation Month. To emphasize the 2008 theme,
This Place Matters,
the National Trust for Historic Preservation is encouraging
people to share photos and stories about the places that matter to
them. To
participate, download a “This Place Matters” sign
here, snap a photo of people
holding the sign in front of a building or place of
particular personal significance, and then follow the simple
instructions to post the photo back on the Trust’s
web site,
www.PreservationNation.org.

Sustainability and Historic Preservation
"We can't build our way out of our environmental problems,
but we can—and must—make better, wiser use of what we've already
built. Preservation is sustainable stewardship."

Share Your Vision
How should we revive older industrial cities?
On
Tuesday, November 20, 2007, we held our
35th Annual Community
Luncheon to share our vision of a vibrant Northeast Ohio and
to start the process of envisioning the ways in which historic
preservation can make this a reality. A panel of experts in real
estate, tax credits, and architecture shared their best
practices, experiences, and recommendations. Now that we've
heard from them, it's your turn. How can we recreate the vibrant
urban centers that once thrived in our communities?
We
invite you to
continue the discussion, hosted by the
National Trust for
Historic Preservation's new blog at
PreservationNation. Share your vision!
