Recent Issue of CRS E-Newsletter

Welcome to the December 2005 issue of the Cleveland Restoration Society and Preservation Resource Center of Northeastern Ohio’s
e-mail newsletter where we bring you breaking news about upcoming events and media coverage and up-to-the-minute information about our advocacy efforts. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone you think might be interested, and let us know if you have a change in e-mail address.

It’s a Girl!
CRS is delighted to report that Deanna Bremer Fisher, our Director
of Marketing & Development, and her husband, Hugh Fisher, are proud parents of a new baby girl. Deanna gave birth to Anna Elise Fisher in the evening of Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Anna made her debut at 5 lbs 15 oz. and 18 ½ inches long. Mom and baby are doing well and expect to be home soon to join big brother, Max. Congratulations to the expanded Fisher family!

While Deanna is on maternity leave and enjoying her new little one, we are pleased to announce that Nancy Griffith, CRS trustee, will be assuming many of the marketing and development responsibilities. Nancy has been a CRS board member since 2002 and recently retired as Director of Major and Planned Gifts for the Cleveland Orchestra. Prior to her work in planned giving, she practiced corporate and securities law in Cleveland. Nancy currently serves as the chair of CRS’s Marketing and Development Committee. CRS is extremely grateful to Nancy for her help in the next few months.

Donate a Tarp to a New Orleans Family This Holiday Season
The National Trust for Historic Preservation continues to work hard to assist in the recovery and rebuilding of the Gulf Coast area of the country that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. While those of us here in Northeast Ohio are putting up holiday decorations, in New Orleans, returning homeowners are clearing out debris and inspecting damaged roofs. Indeed, in this hurricane-ravaged city, the most sought after holiday decoration is a simple blue tarp. Many historic homes do not meet the government criteria to receive a free tarp. The National Trust and the Preservation Resource Center’s have launched Team Tarp, a program that provides returning homeowners with free tarps. You can make a real difference for as little as $26.86 (the cost of a 15’ x 30’ tarp) and save a family thousands of dollars in repairs. Go to www.nationaltrust.org to learn more.

Patricia Eldredge Named President of OHS Board
Patricia S. Eldredge of Hudson was elected president of the Ohio Historical Society Board of Trustees in early October 2005. Pat is an Honorary Life Trustee of CRS, and is one of our most cherished volunteers. The author of several publications and articles on historic preservation and color usage, she lectures widely on historic color and architecture. From 1979 until 1993, she served as a consultant in archives and historic color for the Sherwin-Williams Co. She has been an active member of the Hudson Heritage Association, a member of Hudson’s Architectural and Historic Board of Review, and vice president of the Ohio Preservation Alliance. She is currently co-chair of the Hudson Downtown Improvement District Commission, a board member of the Case-Barlow Bicentennial Farm, and a member of the Properties and Collections Committee of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. A member of the OHS Board since 1994, she will serve a one-year term as president. Congratulations, Pat!
