Preservation Awards

This year, for the first time, the Cleveland Restoration Society will be joining with AIA Cleveland to host the 2008 Celebration of Preservation in May.  Both organizations share a common goal of celebrating significant endeavors in conservation, renovation and adaptive use of historic properties through the annual Preservation Awards Program.

Awards will be presented to individuals, organizations and projects that have made a significant, positive impact in our community.

By recognizing the most brilliant examples of preservation in action in our communities, we invigorate our own efforts to save Northeastern Ohio’s architectural heritage and hopefully encourage others to do the same. Awards are announced at our Celebration of Preservation.

The award recipients will be carefully selected by a Committee representing both CRS and AIA Cleveland, whose members have specific expertise in construction, design and advocacy.

In 2007, CRS recognized 11 projects, organizations, and individuals that have made a difference in Northeast Ohio’s quality of life. 2007 Preservation Awards

Rev. H. Herbert Hardy accepts a preservation award on behalf of Cleveland’s Shiloh Baptist Church.

Award recipients from the Bingham Building enjoy the 2006 Celebration of Preservation.

Past awards have been given in the following categories: Adaptive Use of Older Structures, Commercial Revitalization, Community Revitalization, Housing Preservation, Interior Restoration and Sustained Maintenance of Older Structures.

The awards celebrate Northeast Ohio’s preservation success stories. Projects must be complete by February 15, 2008 to be considered for a 2008 Award. If you know of a deserving project, please complete our official  nomination form and mail it in or drop it off with required photographic documentation. Contact Michael Fleenor at (216) 426-3109.
